March 2009

We've been here in the Viginia Atelier for the month of March and have watched the new velo path being created. There's been much activity outside the windows, some noisy and some not-so. The monument of Coree, which we call The Bunny, is surrounded by barriers. We've seen the picture framer, who has a shop on the ground level, with his Dalmatian dog, and this year, we've actually stopped in and spoken with him and his wife. As our current stay, comes to a close, I'm thinking about my favorite treat, Pain aux raisins. How many can I have before we leave or how many can I take on the plane with me. We depart the Cite des Arts on 30 March, leaving behind more books in the storage closet, some non-perishable provisions for the kitchen, clean towels, and good memories. We hadn't expected to have the use of 8317 when we requested  a month's stay, and in fact were told we'd have 8122. When we arrived, we were nicely surprised by being given this space. It feels like home. Hopefully, it'll feel that way for the next resident.  (posted by Mim Golub Scalin)
